Rumors of ATM Closure and Telecom Blackout Quashed by PTA

The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has refuted media reports suggesting that the country's ATMs and telecommunications may shut down due to the non-renewal of long-distance international (LDI) licenses. The licenses, set to expire in July-August 2024, enable international call services. Despite outstanding dues of Rs24 billion, the PTA has assured that there will be no disruption to ATM networks or telecommunications. 

A steering committee has been formed to address the issue. Earlier reports had warned of significant impacts on service quality, business operations, and the economy, including 50% of mobile traffic and 10% of internet traffic being affected. However, the PTA has clarified that operations of expired LDI licensees will not be suspended or shut down. This comes amid recent internet disruptions, which the Telecom Operators Association has attributed to a government-installed "firewall," and sought the prime minister's intervention to resolve.

Motorists to Get Relief as Petrol, Diesel Prices Fall Again

"Fuel Prices to Drop for Third Consecutive Fortnight"

Petrol and diesel prices in Pakistan are expected to drop by Rs5-6 per litre for the third consecutive fortnight, starting September 1. This decrease is attributed to lower international market prices and a stronger local currency. The international market prices of petrol and diesel have dropped by $2-2.30 per barrel, leading to a projected decrease in prices.

The current ex-depot prices of petrol and diesel are Rs260.96 and Rs266.07 per litre, respectively. The government reduced petrol and diesel prices by Rs8.47 and Rs6.70 per litre, respectively, in the last pricing review. This brings the total reduction in petrol and diesel prices to Rs14.64 and Rs17.56 per litre, respectively, over the last two fortnights.

The drop in petroleum prices will provide relief to consumers, especially the middle and lower middle classes, who are directly affected by petrol prices. However, it is unlikely that the drop in petroleum prices will be fully reflected in fares and prices of essential commodities. The government has increased the maximum limit of petroleum levy to Rs70 per litre, which will help collect Rs1.28 trillion in the next fiscal year. Currently, the government charges various taxes, including custom duty, sales tax, and petroleum levy, on petrol and diesel.

PECA stands for Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act, which was enacted in 2016 in Pakistan. The law aims to prevent and investigate electronic crimes, such as:

تربیلا ڈیم غیر فعال ہونے کے دہانے پر پہنچ گیا ہے۔ تربیلا ڈیم میں تقریباً دس ارب ٹن گارے کا ایک پہاڑ بن گیا ہے جس سے ڈیم کی پانی ذخیرہ کرنے کی صلاحیت میں چالیس فیصد تک کمی واقع ہوٸی ہے۔ ڈان اخبار کی ایک خبر کے مطابق یہ انکشاف سینٹ کی قاٸمہ کمیٹی براٸے آبی وساٸل کے سامنے واپڈا حکام نے کیا ہے۔ مزید انکشاف سے معلوم ہوا ہے کہ گارے کا یہ پہاڑ تقریباً چار میل لمبا ہے اور ڈیم کے اخراجی دروازوں سے چار میل کے فاصلے پر ہی رہ گیا ہے۔ ایک ہلکے زلزلے سے بھی یہ گارا ان اخراجی راستے تک پہنچ کر ڈیم کو غیر فعال بنا سکتا ہے۔ کمیٹی نے اس بات پر زور دیا کہ ڈیم کی صفاٸی کا بندوبست کیا جاۓ مگر ایک اور پریشان کن انکشاف ہوا کہ ڈیم کی صفاٸی کا تخمینہ اتنا زیادہ ہے کہ اتنی لاگت میں تربیلا جتنا ہی بڑا ڈیم تعمیر ہو سکتا ہے۔ اب دیکھنا یہ ہے کہ آٸندہ آنے والے دنوں میں اس پیچیدہ مسٸلے کا کوٸی حل تلاش ہو سکے گا یا نہیں۔

The exams of upcoming CSS is going to be started on Wednesday, 1st February 2023 as the date sheet has been issued on 14th December 2023. Exams of six compulsory subjects will be given on the first three days of February. The exams would be ended completely on February 09, 2023.

 ہاٸیکورٹ کا حکم آگیا! تاجر برادری پریشان

لاہور میں رات 10 بجے مارکیٹیں اور ریسٹورینٹس بند کرنے کا حکم ۔ دورانِ سماعت عدالت نے حکم دیا کہ مارکیٹیں رات 10 بند کی جائیں اور  جمعہ کے روز اسکول بند رکھیں جائیں، جو بھی اسکول جمعہ کو کھلے اسے سیل کردیا جائے۔

عدالت نے جمعہ، ہفتہ اور اتوار کے روز ریسٹورینٹس بند کرنے پر ایک گھنٹے کا ریلیف دیتے ہوئے کہا کہ ان تینوں دنوں میں ریسٹورینٹس رات 11 بجے بند کیے جائیں جب کہ اتوار کے روز ابھی مارکیٹیں 10 بجے بند نہ کی جائیں۔

خدا ایسا دن کبھی نا لاۓ کہ لوگ تبدیلی چاہیں اور تبدیلی کے بدلے ان کے حالات اچھے ہونے کے بجاۓ بدترین ہو جاٸیں۔  یا راتوں رات ایسی گورنمنٹ تبدیل ہو کہ لوگوں کو اس تبدیلی کے بھی سنہرے خواب دکھاۓ جاٸیں اور پھر تعبیر ایک بدترین حقیقت ثابت ہو کہ جس سے پیچھا چھڑانا بھی نا ممکن سا ہوجاۓ۔ ابھی ذیادہ دیر نہی ہوٸی نٸی حکومت آۓ۔ ایک ایسا شخص تخت پربراجمان ہوا جسےکٸی برس خادم اعلٰی ہونے کا اعزاز حاصل رہا مگر جو نہی اس نے وذارت عظمٰی سمبھالی تو خادم اعلٰی ہونے کا سارا فخر جاتا رہا۔ نوبت یہاں تک آن پہنچی ہے کہ بچے بھی حیرت سے کبھی اس خادم کی خدمت کو دیکھتے ہیں تو کبھی اپنی دودھ کی خالی بوتل کو۔ اپریل ٢٠٢٢ وہ ان چاہی گھڑی تھی جب موجودہ گورنمنٹ نے آہستہ سے تباہ ہوتی ریاست کو خود چلانے کا بیڑہ اٹھایا اور اس عمل کو تیزی کی ایسی راہ دیکھاٸی کہ الامان والحفیظ۔ ان چند ماہ مے دودھ کی قیمت میں تقریباً ٤٠ روپوں کا اور دہی کی قیمت میں تقریباً ٦٠ روپوں کا اضافہ ہو چکا ہےمگر بچے ہیں کہ میں کس کے ہاتھ پہ اپنا لہو تلاش کروں کے مصداق وفاق سے پنجاب تو کبھی پنجاب سے وفاق کی اوڑھ تک رہے ہیں مگر جواب کی بجاۓ ٹی وی پر دونوں کے اپنے کام کرنے اور دوسرے کے کام نا کرنے کے بیش قیمت اشتہارات دیکھ کر اس آس پر بھوک سے بلبلاتے سو جاتے ہیں کہ کبھی تو یہ اندھیری رات کی سیاہی کا خاتمہ ہوگا اور طلوع آفتاب اپنے ساتھ صبح نوید لے کر آن پہنچے گا۔ ابھی یہ ننھے ذہن جانتے نہی کہ یہ وطن عزیز پاکستان ہے اور یہاں تبدیلی کا مطلب تباہی تو ہو سکتا ہے مگر ترقی ہرگز نہیں۔ اللہ ان ننھے پھولوں کو ہی جلد سمجھ عطا فرماۓ کیونکہ اول اذکر لوگوں کو سمجھ آ جاۓ اس کا انتظار پچھلے ٧٥ برس سے کیا جا رہا ہے۔
